Devon Planning Portal: Applying for Planning Permission

The Devon Planning Portal is the official online system for submitting, managing, and tracking planning applications within the county. Designed to be simple and user-friendly, it enables applicants to upload all required documents and follow the progress of their applications. Local residents can also access the portal to view proposals and share feedback on developments in their area.

To improve your chances of approval and ensure your application meets Devon County Council’s environmental requirements, it is advisable to seek ecological advice early. Collington Winter provides specialist consultancy to guide you through every stage of the planning process.

Using the Devon Planning Portal

Prepare your application – Ensure you have all the required information and documents ready, including:

  • Completed application forms (available on the Devon Planning Portal)
  • Accurate site location plans and elevation drawings
  • Supporting documentation, such as design and access statements
  • Ecological surveys, impact assessments, and mitigation strategies

Submit your application – Upload your documents to the portal. You will receive confirmation and a unique reference number for tracking.

Public consultation – Your application will be added to the public register. Residents and stakeholders can review it and provide comments during the consultation period.

Application review – Planning officers will assess your proposal against local policies and national planning guidelines. If required, they may request amendments.

Decision – Depending on the scale of the project, the decision will be made either by a planning officer or a planning committee.
