Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant Ecologist with an attention to detail to join our dynamic team. As an ecology consultant, you will play a critical role in delivering ecological surveys, assessments, and advice for a variety of projects. You will be responsible for managing ecological projects from inception through to completion, ensuring high standards of quality and compliance with relevant legislation and guidelines.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct various types of surveys, including Phase 1 habitat surveys, protected species surveys (e.g., bats, amphibians, reptiles, birds), and Ecological Impact Assessments.
  • Work closely with our colleagues in our landscape architecture and arboricultural team to provide high quality advice on projects.
  • Assist in drafting technical reports, impact assessments, and recommendations for mitigation and conservation strategies.
  • Work closely with other ecologists and project managers to ensure project deliverables are met on time and to a high standard.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree or equivalent in an Environmental Science subject, or demonstration of relevant alternative experience.
  • Previous experience in ecological fieldwork, including species identification and survey techniques, is preferred.
  • Proven and demonstrable experience undertaking environmental surveys
  • Experience working within an ecological consultancy.
  • A valid UK driving license is essential, along with the willingness to travel to various job sites.
  • Ability to stay away from home for short periods (1-2 nights) for work throughout the UK (hotel expenses all paid for).
