Denbighshire Planning Portal: Applying for Planning Permission

The Denbighshire Planning Portal is the official system for submitting, managing and tracking planning applications in the Denbighshire area. Designed to be user-friendly, it enables applicants to upload supporting documents and follow the progress of their applications. Local residents can also use the portal to view proposals and share feedback on developments within their community.

To improve the chances of approval and ensure compliance with Denbighshire County Council’s environmental requirements, it is strongly recommended to seek ecological advice from the start. Collington Winter provides expert consultancy to guide and support you at every stage of the planning process.

Using the Denbighshire Planning Portal

Prepare your application – Before submitting, make sure you have all the necessary information and documents, including:

  • Completed application forms (available via the Denbighshire Planning Portal)
  • Accurate site location plans and elevation drawings
  • Supporting documents, such as design and access statements
  • Ecological surveys, impact assessments, and mitigation strategies

Submit your application – Once completed, upload your application to the portal. You will receive confirmation and a reference number for tracking.

Public access and consultation – Your application will be published on the public register, where residents and stakeholders can review it and submit comments during the consultation period.

Application review – Planning officers will assess your proposal against local policy and national planning guidance. If concerns arise, amendments may be requested.

Decision – Depending on the scale and complexity of the project, the final decision will be made either by a planning officer or a planning committee.

Ecological Services to Support Your Planning Application

  • Ecological Surveys – Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs) to identify habitats, protected species, and potential constraints.
  • Protected Species Assessment – Targeted surveys for bats, badgers, great crested newts, reptiles, and nesting birds, in line with UK and EU legislation.
  • Tree surveys – Evaluations of tree condition, root protection zones, and recommendations, especially for trees covered by Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs).
