Daventry Planning Portal: Applying for Planning Permission

The Daventry Planning Portal is the official online platform for submitting, managing, and tracking planning applications in the Daventry area. It is designed for ease of use, allowing applicants to upload supporting documents and monitor the progress of their applications. Local residents can also access the portal to view and comment on planning proposals in their community.

To maximise the chances of a successful application and ensure compliance with West Northamptonshire Council’s environmental standards, it is recommended to seek ecological advice at the earliest stage. Collington Winter provides expert consultancy to guide you through every step of the planning process.

Using the Daventry Planning Portal

Prepare your application – Before submitting, make sure you have all the necessary information and documents, including:

  • Completed application forms (available via the Daventry Planning Portal)
  • Accurate site location plans and elevation drawings
  • Supporting documents, such as design and access statements
  • Ecological surveys, impact assessments, and mitigation strategies

Submit your application – Once completed, upload your application to the portal. You will receive confirmation and a reference number for tracking.

Public access and consultation – Your application will be published on the public register, where residents and stakeholders can review it and submit comments during the consultation period.

Application review – Planning officers will assess your proposal against local policy and national planning guidance. If concerns arise, amendments may be requested.

Decision – Depending on the scale and complexity of the project, the final decision will be made either by a planning officer or a planning committee.

Ecological Services to Support Your Planning Application

  • Ecological Surveys – Most projects start with a Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) to identify habitats, protected species, and potential constraints.
  • Protected Species Assessment – Targeted surveys for bats, badgers, great crested newts, reptiles, or nesting birds, following UK and European regulations.
  • Tree surveys – Evaluation of tree health, root protection zones, and recommendations, especially for trees covered by Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs).
  • Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) – Measuring biodiversity and creating plans to meet the mandatory 10% net gain target under the Environment Act 2021.
  • Landscape Surveys – Assessing how your development may affect the visual and ecological character of the surrounding area.
  • Ecological Clerk of Works – On-site supervision during construction to ensure compliance with agreed ecological measures.
